Introduce yourself to other students and ESN Slovenia.

ESN Slovenia, the national branch of the Erasmus Student Network, currently supports four sections: ESN Ljubljana, ESN Ljubljana University, ESN Maribor, and ESN Primorska. The network was established in the late 1990s, with Slovenia’s first Erasmus students arriving in 1999. Early roots trace back to the Central European Student Network (CSN) in 1997, and Slovenia officially joined ESN in 1998/1999. Key early events included the AGM in Portorož in 2000 and the ESN Sokrates Erasmus Week in 2001.

Over the years, ESN Slovenia grew nationally and internationally. ESN Maribor took on the ESN magazine in 2002-2003, and in 2013 the national board was established, marking a new organisational phase. The same year, ESN Maribor hosted another AGM, welcoming over 600 participants. ESN Slovenia returned to the international scene in 2021, with a newly stable board established in spring 2023. Recent initiatives include Erasmus Intern, ErasmusJobs, Erasmus in Schools, and the Green Erasmus program, which promotes sustainability. In 2023, ESN Maribor organised the CEP event with a large mobility fair, showcasing diverse mobility programs and encouraging student involvement.

We, ESN Slovenia, commit ourselves to a higher number of mobility flow, quality improvement, and sustainable practice. By collaborating with national organisations, as well as international ESN sections, we would like to enhance the global reach and impact of our programs. These initiatives reflect our commitment to innovation, quality, and sustainability in all our endeavours.

At the start of each semester, our local sections organise Welcome Weeks for new Erasmus students, offering a vibrant lineup of daily events. These weeks typically include international dinners, where students share food, culture, and experiences from their home countries, fostering connections within the Erasmus community. To help students learn more about Slovenia, sections also arrange a guided trip to explore the country’s beautiful sights—a consistently popular event among participants.
