New public University in Novo mesto

SEARCH PROGRAMMES & INSTITUTIONS
Minister Dr. Igor Papič and Prof. Dr. Janez Povh have signed the agreement for the temporary assumption of functions at the University of Novo mesto, which will become the fourth public university in Slovenia.
 
Under the auspices of the public University of Novo Mesto, the following institutions will be brought together:
  • the currently private University of Novo Mesto and its four member faculties

    (Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Business and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Economics and Informatics),
  • the Faculty of Industrial Engineering (currently a private institution),
  • the Faculty of Information Studies (currently a public institution),
  • the Faculty of Organisation Studies (currently a private institution),
  • the Grm Novo Mesto Centre of Rural Management (currently a public institution), and
  • the public institution Rudolfovo – Science and Technology Centre Novo Mesto, which will become an affiliated member of the new university.
Strong universities are key to development, innovation, and national competitiveness. Around 2,000 students will be able to continue their studies at the new university.
 
The establishment of the university brings new knowledge, research opportunities, and strengthens regional development, while also positioning Slovenia more firmly on the international academic map.
